FASHION WEEK IN PARIS 2012 – guide

February 29th, 2012 § 0

The FASHION WEEK started in Paris yesterday and I’ve recieved some invitations to shows and my mailbox has been bombed with invitations to fashion week parties….. You all know how devoted I’ve been to the Fashion Weeks in Paris…what a pity I’m not there this time. Due to some travelling I won’t be attending this time. BUT I’ve done a guide where I share my hot spots for the Fashion Week in Paris.

Before the Fashion Week begins you need to get a hold on the biblethe Fashion Week agenda. There you will have all the schedules for all the fashionshows that are taken place during the week. Also there is information about all the hype fahion parties!

I usually go to the fashion shows a bit earlier, just so that I have the time to take streetstyle photos on the people who are invited to the shows. People are coming from all around the world and it’s a fashion show in itself watching how these people are dresssed. On the photo below you see me and James Goldstein, also a devoted fashion week fan ;-)

How to run from one fashion show to another? Forget about the metro or taxis….take a bike ;-) This Ducati Sport 1000 never let me down ;-)

After been running from one fashionshow to another during a whole day you need a break, the best place is to go to Le Bar VOGUE that is held at the hotel Crillon. Have a nice cocktail and rest your legs, you need a well deserved break ;-)

Dinner, dinner – we all need to eat :-) During the fashionweeks I usually went to L’Avenue for dinner. Delicious food and the restaurant is situated in the golden V. Great position to continue and go to the fashion parties later that are all taken place in that area or close to it….

The fashion parties are a great place to do networking – you will meet people from all over the world that are into fashion, usually there is an open bar, a super DJ is always invited to play great tracks and you will definately have FUN! On the first photo below you see my friend Linda Romanazzi ( Swedish DJ in Paris), me and my friend Thierry Lasry ( French sunglass designer) at the private nightclub Baron on a Lolita Lempicka party that was held during the fashion week in Paris 2011. On the next photo below you see Thierry Lasry, me and Ludovic Messager on the Thierry Lasry & Quintessence Playground party at L’Arc in Paris 2011.

The fashion week parties are usually until 23h or midnight…after that I usually went straight to Montana for some wild after party and after Montana there was always an after-after party at Baron…even wilder.

Those are my favourite hot spots during the fashion weeks in Paris….if you are there – enjoy to the fullest! Me, I’m just charging my batteries for the later fashion weeks ;-)

Boracay

Me and my sister were very lucky with the weather when we were on Boracay, the sun was shining everyday. Even though it was hot it did rain a couple of times during very short breaks….then we usually went to the same restaurant were we used to have breakfast and sat there and played cards, read books etc waiting for the rain to stop ;-) Somehow a little bit rain didn’t bother us at all on the paradise island as it would have done back home…

Some more photos on mon petit déjeuner préféré (my favourite breakfast = in French). I had mango- and banana pancakes, a bowl with fresh fruits and a fruit shake every single morning on Boracay…and that was heaven for me :-)

If you ever visit the Philippines you should try their mangoes, the climate there is perfect for mangoes and they are perfectly sweet and mellow…the best ones I’ve ever tasted in my life!

Boracay

Boracay is pretty much known because of its numerious awarded beautiful 4 km long White Beach. The island is 7 km long and 1 km wide so if you love power-walking this island you would easily have a walk around the island every day :-) The White Beach area is protected from wind and is perfect if you would like to go for swimming….and if you are more into kite surfing then you just need to cross the island to the beach on the other side. There is also a mall-area with plenty of shops, restaurants etc and along the White Beach there and plenty of hotels. In fact the White Beach was pretty crowded with tourists. It was very clean though, I never saw any litter on the beach. The island in it self had been very exploited in the terms that new hotels are poppin up here and there along with tourist shops and I guess that comes with the mass tourism. The temperature was around 30-32 degrees when we were there in the beginning of December 2011. They have a dry season (Nov-Apr) and a rainy season (Jun-Oct) and if you want to enjoy the White Beach you should not go there during the rainy season when there will be very heavy winds and waves.

I really liked and enjoyed Boracay, very beautiful beaches and nice people…but it was way too many tourists and 5 days on the island was enough. I can definately think of going back there for a couple of days..and I will do it because I discovered later that I missed the beach in the north of the island, Puka Beach, that is said to be a peaceful, serene and tranquil tropical paradise…How on earth could I miss it? Well, no worries….that just means I will be going there again ;-)

Dinner

I’m not a big fan of meat, I’m more of a vegetarian but I do eat fish and seafood. In the Philippines it is very common to eat pork and they had pork in almost every dish. So it was not always easy for me to order food….. On Boracay I usually had barbecued new caught shrimps with a vegetable stew or a soup with vegetables. Very tasty and delicious :-) Bon appétit!

Mon petit déjuner préféré (my favourite breakfast-in French) was served at  Surfside Boracay Resort & Spa Restaurant. That was the place me and my sister first had our breakfast and we were so pleased with it so we we’re eating there everyday until our last day on Boracay. I used to have a banana- and mango pancake with syrup a bowl with fresh sliced fruits such as pineapples, bananas, and mango and a freshly made fruitshake with bananas, mango and pineapple ( I always ordered mine without sugar, without ice and without milk = just a blend of fresh fruits). On the photo below you can see my sister is having an omelette, toast with butter and jam and coleslaw salad. The breakfast was so delicious that it was almost the highlight of my day ;-)

Island Jewel Inn at Boracay

Island Jewel Inn

Island Jewel Inn

This is were me and my sister stayed when we were on Boracay, the Island Jewel Inn. I had found it through TripAdvisor, many people had recommended it and it was also situated close to the White beach (1 minute walk). When we just arrived they had made us a big welcome sign at the reception where they had written our names and we were offered a welcome drink, a delicious freshly made fruitjuice. That really made us feel welcomed and all of the staff were very helpful, polite and service minded. We had a bathroom with hot and cold water, A/C in the room and a safety box. The room was cleaned every day and our towels were changed daily. The White Beach is divided into 3 boatstations, the Island Jewel Inn is situated on boatstation 3, the most peaceful and calm area of the beach. The clubs are situated at boatstation 1 and the shopping district with the mall is at boat station 2….and since me and my sister were looking forward to relax we chose to stay on a hotel in that area. We were very pleased with our choice and if I will go to Boracay a second time I will definately stay at Island Jewel Inn :-)

Going to Boracay

February 21st, 2012 § 0

Boracay

Let’s go to Boracay! That was my next stop in my trip in Asia two months ago. Me and my sister went to Cebu in the Philippines by plane from Singapore and from Cebu we took a plane to Caticlan, an island next to Boracay. There are no airports in Boracay but there are banca boats that you take from Caticlan to Boracay and it is a boat ride of 15-20 minutes. We had reserved a hotel for 4 nights and one of the reason why we wanted to go to Boracay was to see their famous beach, called the White Beach. The island was awarded in the “Travelers’ Choice 2011″ by TripAdvisor as the second best beach (out of 25) in the world and the island was ranking fourth in the Top 10 Islands in the Travel+Leisure travel magazine. When we arrived we were not disapointed…and in the upcoming blogpost you will know why ;-)

Eat Pray Love

February 20th, 2012 § 1

Eat Pray Love

Reading "Eat Pray Love", photo taken in Malapascua, Philippines 2011

One of the books I brought along with me to my trip in Asia was “Eat Pray Love” written by Elizabeth Gilbert. I had seen the movie (with Julia Roberts and Javier Bardem) two years ago and I had been recommended to read the book because it was supposed to be much better than the movie.

For those of you who haven’t seen the movie or read the book, Eat Pray Love is about Liz, a woman who realize she is not happy in her marriage and decides to divorce, it turns out to be a very painful divorce and on the road she is having a destructive relationship with a guy she fells in love with. At a point she feel that she needs to go in a different direction, to find herself and that is when she takes off, first to Italy, then to India and last to Bali where she meet a Brazilian man whom she falls in love with.

The book was much better than the movie, it was much more detailed and contained many beautiful and wise quotes. But I was disapointed with the ending, everything she had been writing about earlier in her book felt so meaningless when the end of her trip in the search of herself is about falling in love with a man. What happened with the relation with herself? The goal with this travelling of her was to find herself and not someone to fall in love with? Maybe she could have excluded that part from this book and have it as a beginning in her next book?

I don’t think you need to travel the world to find love, you don’t need a guru, you don’t need to go to an ashram in India. I think we can be enlightened with love as soon as we are receptive in our minds and have an open heart. I do recommend the book, its definately worth reading even though I would have liked another ending.

Oh Jimmy, take me where you would go :-) These Falcon sandals from Jimmy Choo are so God damn sexy! I found them at Jimmy Choo‘s store and they’re from their latest collection. I tried them on it was pure love…they’re Swarovski crystal-encrusted with double ankle straps….and I just love the way the straps forms around my ankle and foot. Je les adore!

A beautiful view…and beautiful memories

February 18th, 2012 § 0

View from my old apartment in Odéon, Paris

View from my old apartment in Odéon, Paris

This is where I used to live, back in the days…. It is the apartment in Odéon (St Germain) where I spent my first year in Paris and I have so many beautiful memories from here :-) I’m still in contact with my landlord and his wife who are living in the apartment now and when I’m in the area sometimes I check if they are home, always bringing some pain au chocolat with me from the bakery Pauls, 2 minutes from there. They have a sweet tooth just as me and their favourite is pain au chocolat. He and his wife were my first contact in the French society and they really took good care of me and always invited me for dinners, different occasions just so that I could meet French speaking people and improve my French. They also helped me with all the administrative things when I first had arrived and without all their help I really don’t know what I would have been doing so I’m so thankful I was lucky meeting them. And the view you can see on the photo above is from the window from the apartment, where I once used to live :-)

They’ve changed the menu at Schmuck in Paris ;-) My favourite main course has been excluded = no more skate wing  for me….instead I found something else that tempted me on the menu…Saint Jacques! So I had Saint Jacques with mashed potatoes (delicious!) and for dessert I had the usual, brioche façon pain perdu with caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream :-) Happy they didn’t take that one off from the menu ;-) As I’ve been telling you before, their brioche façon pain perdu is the best I’ve ever tasted in Paris and if you’re feeling for having one have it at Schmuck!

Go where there is no path….

February 15th, 2012 § 3

Solli

Me in Paris 2010. Quote: Emerson

With that quote I want to say that moving to Paris was the best thing I ever could do two years ago. I left the path everyone else were walking and created my own….while almost everyone were against my “wild and crazy” decision to quit my job, leave my apartment and leave all security we have in Sweden and go to Paris, without knowing the language, without having  job and without having an apartment..that maybe sounded crazy for some peoples …but in my mind that was a fantastic idea. After my first week in Paris I managed to fix all those above mentioned things. Follow your dreams and always listen to your heart ;-)
