Very irresistable…Liv Tyler

April 17th, 2011 § 0

Done with the work for this weekend @ the gallery. During the week we recieved plenty of objects to the gallery where I work, Quintessence Playground (at 14 rue Paul Bert). The owner had re-done most of the decoration inside and I was amazed by the beautiful result and so were the clients who came and visited the gallery during the weekend. Liv Tyler also passed by several times with her son Milo and she found several things :-)

Mr Boney @ Quintessence Playground

Have been working @ Quintessence Playground during the whole weekend. Have had +20 degrees…really beautiful weather!! Anyway, what I was going to say…take a look at the skull in the photo, mr Boney. After have been playing with him for a while, Ludo (who owns Quintessence Playground ) made an amazing creation using it. After a couple of hours I got to see the result and I was really amazed. No photos yet, but perhaps later…

Drama @ work

March 14th, 2011 § 0

Working @ Quintessence Playground

For the moment I’m working only on Saturday’s and Sunday’s @ the concept-store Quintessence Playground. Last week we recieved plenty of new objects and filled up our small gallery aswell so from now on I’m working on my own in the small gallery at 14 rue Paul Bert, just in front of our other concept-store. Working two days a week isn’t that much….but those two days in the Flea Market of St-Ouen feels like a week….yesterday it was big drama..can’t go into details…..I thought I was used to it but I never stop getting surprised…it’s like being a part of a soap-opera…

Today was a beautiful day having the sun shining all day long :-) When I didn’t have any clients in the gallery I was sitting outside in the sun reading IDEAT for inspiration……

Reese Witherspoon and Boney M

January 23rd, 2011 § 1

Boney M, hanging high @ Quintessence Playground, 3 Rue Paul Bert, Paris

Today it was almost crowded with clients at work which was really good :-) Met some Swedish clients but also many from the States, Italy and Germany. In the middle of the chaos Boney M was complaining on why he was hidden in the corner of the gallery, and not in the center…Boney M..he always wants attention! Said and done, we brought him up and put him on one of our big industrial tables and turned a big lamp (that had been used during several movie shots 50 years ago) on Boney M and suddenly he was pleased :-) But I wonder what Reese Witherspoon was thinking when she stepped into the gallery this afternoon, everyone are not so pleased to see Boney M but luckily Reese didn’t mind ;-)

TRON by Betak @ Quintessence Playground

"Tron by Betak" @ Quintessence Playground, Paris

This high-tech TRON lightinstallation that is designed by Alexandre de Betak was taken from the Colette window where it had been during two weeks and now it has been installed in one of the windows at the gallery where I work, Quintessence Playground. Alexandre came by today to check out the installation and we will have it for a month so if you want to have a look stop by at Quintessence Playground. The lightinstallation is amazing…..I’ll make a video-clip tomorrow so you can see the cool effects live ;-)

It is really fun to work at the gallery, it’s like a concept store, the largest in Paris with it’s 650 square metres and we have lot’s of International clients. Today we had visitor’s from Elle Interior (Sweden) who wanted to write about the gallery in their next issue, they had been here in September and were amazed by the gallery. It’s really one of a kind and very unique. I’m doing their website and I’ll put a link to it as soon as it’s finished!

Everything comes to an end…

September 28th, 2010 § 3

I’ve quitted my job. What will happen after I don’t know. But one thing is for sure, my latest job has been a challenge, when I started working I still wasn’t so secure in the French language. But now, after 1 1/2 month I feel more secure and I even speak French with my colleagues. I have never had so much fun at work as I have had at Ted Baker and my colleagues never needed to make much effort to make me cry of laughter. They have been so wonderful to me that words are not enough to describe their kindness. Just as my time at Ladurée I’ve been really lucky to meet people that have taken care of me in the best way. Even though it was for a very short time I will always carry on my time at Ted Baker in my memory. In three weeks I will no longer work at Ted Baker anymore.

First day at work followed up by some margaritas…..

July 20th, 2010 § 8

Things are running pretty fast in my life right now. I’ve been looking for a job for a while and last week I applied at Ted Baker’s in Le Marais where my friend Emelie works. I was there for an interview and was called for a second interview this Saturday and I got the job! Wohoo! My first day was today, many things to learn and memorize and I hope I’ll improve my french day by day :-) My colleagues at work were really nice and I think I will have a great time working there. This morning I went early and took a breakfast at Columbus while practising some essential phrases that are good to know when you work in a boutique. For lunch I had a quiche and for dessert I went to my second home MyBerry (sorry GROM…you should open a gelato bar in Le Marais) for some fro-yo (frozen yoghurt) with strawberries, raspberries and pink grapefruit…delicious! When the day was over I celebrated it with Emelie and 4 margaritas in a cozy bar in Le Marais.

L’église suédoise et chez Starbucks

July 9th, 2010 § 3

Today I went to the Swedish church to look for job offers, they always have plenty of job postings at their notice-board. I also met Christine for a “fika” at the Swedish church but we ended up at Starbucks instead. I had my favourite cooler of the summer, Ice Tea from Arizona and Christine had a frappé. Always fun meeting Christine, happy she’s here for the summer but I will miss her when she goes back to Sweden for her studies in August…
When I walked back home to St Germain I passed Louvre, beautiful as always. I’m lucky living so close to it :-)
Btw, good news! Got a job offer (10 hours/week) and tomorrow I will have a testing period for a couple of hours..I’ll keep you updated ;-)

Have a great weekend!

p.s.Ellinor, I’ll mail you later regarding apartment ads, I found some at the notice-board at the Swedish church ;-)

To be continued….

July 7th, 2010 § 4

Since I wrote my latest blogpost my family, friends and blogreaders have been calling me, sending me e-mails and posting comments on my blog with cheering words, with links where to find job and other tips. I’m so happy for that, it means alot :-)

I was really sad when I was writing that I perhaps must leave my new home, Paris. God knows how many things I had to deal with to get where I am now. Now when I’m thinking back I have had even worse periods in Sweden…this is acctually nothing compared to those. I’m 28 years old, I have an education and I’m a hardworking woman and I’ve always been a fighter and rather take the hard way than the easy just to learn how to handle things and grow as a person. For two days I’ve been walking around all over Paris and applying for jobs..I’ve been walking for hours in the heat and now my feets are a mess with foot ulcers, but I don’t mind…. I’ve been e-mailing applications to several job openings and I’ve done everything I can to find a job. Now, I’m going to lean back and relax. As my friend Irina, told me, I’ve now made clear for the Universe I’m looking for a job…it’s handling my wish and I will hopefully receive a job offer soon. Now it’s time to think about other things and just let this jobsearching process to let go.

Many people have been asking me why I came here without finding a job BEFORE? Well, I was looking for jobs but it’s almost impossible finding a job when you don’t speak French and that’s why I came here to study French first….AND besides….I love taking risks in my life, I love not knowing how things will turn out just because it makes me work harder and I feel more alive when I have to fight for something than when I’m served ;-) Even though my choices are giving me a hard time I love living like this :-)

Have a wonderful day and thanks for all your support!

Finding a job in Paris….is not easy

July 5th, 2010 § 12

Reality is catching up on me. Since I quit my job at Ladurée (in the end of April) I haven’t had any income and living in one of the worlds expensivest cities without having any income for 3 months is…HARD. Now I’m unfortunately running ut of my savings and if I don’t find any job within this week July will be my last month in Paris :-(

I’m looking for a qualified job, withing Engineering since I am an Engineer but unfortunately the offices are closed between June 15th – August 15th. So now I’m looking for whatever kind of job I can get. Early this morning, me and Josefin (my friend and room-mate) went to a Internet café in St Germain and printed out our CVs and motivation letters. Then we almost went all over Paris and gave our applications. It was both fun but also weird. At a very posh restaurant in St Germain the Manager couldn’t take his eyes off us and I felt like a piece of meat. We went to coffée-places, restaurants, boutiques, make-up stores, hotels, galleries etc.

After a couple of hours we had a VERY late lunch at McDonalds at 17h. I haven’t had any meal at McDonalds for 10 years…I’m not into their food..but didn’t had any other choice at Champs-Elysée. I had a fishburger and the best part is that I got 3-d glasses…GREAT! I’m going to watch Shrek at the cinema soon so now I won’t need to pay extra for the 3D-glasses ;-)

By the way, if any of you readers knows any place here in Paris I should apply for a job..please don’t hesitate to drop me a line!

Jobbmöte över en Ceasarsallad på Scandic Anglais

August 29th, 2009 § 4

scandicanglais3

scandicanglais

Here it is!

Life is good!
