@ GROM

The ice-cream at the Italian ice-cream bar GROM is so delicious that I use to go all the way from the 17th arrondissement to the 6th where the one and only GROM in France is located. Last time it was so hot so I went for the refreshing sorbet flavors, Pera ( Comice Pear) and Pompelmo Rosa ( red grapefruit). Delicious as always! While I was sitting there endulging myself with my ice-cream a photographer who was doing a photo-shoot on behalf of GROM for commercial asked if he could take a photo on my ice-cream. So for the first time it was not only me taking photos on my ice-cream ;-)

Triple-love @ GROM, 81 Rue de Seine

The Italian ice-cream bar GROM is one of my favourie one’s in Paris and I’m completely in love with their ice-cream. Last time I went there I made sure to get a triple-love including Crema di Grom, Vaniglia and Pistacchio and on top of that, heavenly delicious panna montata (whipped cream).

Hot chocolate + ice cream = true

December 10th, 2010 § 3

Ice cream + hot chocolate = true, only @ GROM ;-)

If you think that I would stop going to GROM during wintertime you’re all wrong ;-) GROM knows exactly what to do to keep me there even though it’s freezing cold outside. It’s easy, they’ve started to serve hot chocolate and you can have a scoop of ice cream in it! You never knew about that combination did you? ;-)

Just because I miss you, Saint Germain…..

November 7th, 2010 § 3

@ Odéon, Saint Germain - Paris

I still miss my old neighborhood Odéon (in Saint Germain) like crazy. I was really living in the middle of everything. I had a cinema in the same building I was living in and I was surrounded by the best restaurants, pâtisseries, nightclubs, bars and bistros. Two days ago I went to Saint Germain to meet a friend for lunch and after that I slipped in at GROM‘s to have a special treat, vanilla and chestnuts…heavenly delicious! I also went to Taschen bookstore, if you can’t find me eating macarones at Ladurée or having ice creams at GROM‘s you can always find me at Taschen strolling around and looking in their books. Right now they have a limited edition book with photos from the movie Taxi Driver, one of my favourite movies.

Yesterday I went for a cup of gelatoand on top of that their heavenly delicious chantilly…j’adore! The guy in the gelato bar knows all about my passionate relation to their gelatos and when I finished my first cup he was so nice and offered me another cup and I picked pistachio…God I could be sitting there forever..and just eat gelato..day after day…what a pleasure :-)

A few days ago when I passed by the Italian gelato bar GROM I had a cup with the flavors Glazed chestnuts and Ricotta & figues (this months limited flavor), and as always it was a heavenly experience! Too bad Ricotta & figues is not on their regular menu :-(

First day at work followed up by some margaritas…..

July 20th, 2010 § 8

Things are running pretty fast in my life right now. I’ve been looking for a job for a while and last week I applied at Ted Baker’s in Le Marais where my friend Emelie works. I was there for an interview and was called for a second interview this Saturday and I got the job! Wohoo! My first day was today, many things to learn and memorize and I hope I’ll improve my french day by day :-) My colleagues at work were really nice and I think I will have a great time working there. This morning I went early and took a breakfast at Columbus while practising some essential phrases that are good to know when you work in a boutique. For lunch I had a quiche and for dessert I went to my second home MyBerry (sorry GROM…you should open a gelato bar in Le Marais) for some fro-yo (frozen yoghurt) with strawberries, raspberries and pink grapefruit…delicious! When the day was over I celebrated it with Emelie and 4 margaritas in a cozy bar in Le Marais.

My partner in crime just left me..

July 11th, 2010 § 3

Clari is my partner in crime when it comes to ice cream. We can call each other in the day just to have an ice-cream date at Amorino and then sit down close to the river Seine and enjoy our ice creams :-) Yesterday we met each other past 21h and we started with frozen yoghurts at MyBerry at their new bar in île st louis. I had a frozen yoghurt with brownies and strawberries while Clari chose Oreo-topping and raspberries. Yummie :-) When we were walking to my place in St Germain (where we freaked in front of Photo-booth in my iMac) we couldn’t resist the pressure and just had to have an ice-cream so we went to GROM and I had a dark chocolate sorbet and vanilla….MmmmmMmmm

Today Clari is leaving for a trip to Germany, Poland and Italy…will not see her until in the end of August…I will miss our ice-cream dates :-(

It Mylk

I have a new neighbour and my favourite gelato bar GROM has got a competitor. It Mylk (15 rue de l’Ancienne Comédie) is a frozen yoghurt bar – ok, not a 100% competitor to GROM but almost. Who can say no to frozen yoghurt now when it’s boiling hot in Paris? Not me ;-) So if I’m not at GROMs..then take a walk to it mylk and you’ll probably find me there :-)

A treat at GROM a day keeps the doctor away…

June 30th, 2010 § 1

You all know I’m a GROM addict and I really thank God that Paris one and only GROM bar is situated in St Germain where I live. A treat at GROM a day keeps the doctor away…that’s my motto. Last time I was at GROM with my sister I had lampone (raspberry) and latte & menta (menthe) – my favourite summer flavours. My sister chose the dark chocolate sorbet….delicious choice if you ask me ;-)

June 29th, 2010 § 5

My sister left last Thursday and I miss her very much. We had a great time together, even though we perhaps got on each other nerves once in a while :-) We went to Bayonne together, we spent time in Jardin du Luxembourg, we had my friend Fumi coming over for a dinner, had brunch with my friend Amélie, we went to Clari’s place to watch Argentina play in the World Cup, we had the most delicious macaron (abricot and saffron) at Pierre Hermé, had gelato at GROM and I can go on forever. Hope you’re coming back soon!

Me likey :-)

I really love this French life of mine…

TRANSLATION:
What a Friday! Yesterday I started the day by going through all the email I had received from prospective tenants, and I also wrote a lot of job applications …. in FRENCH. Phew, not easy at all … ..

Later in the day a classmate called me up and we decided to have an ice cream at the Italian ice cream bar GROM. It was my friends very first ice cream at GROM, she used to have Amorinos ice cream (an Italian glass chain) but she felt better about GROM, thumbs up then! Me likey :-)

In the evening I met up Christine, her boyfriend and their French and Swedish friends, we were about 15 people, for a picnic on the lawn at Invalides.I also got to talk with the French and asked  why many French people goes crazy when you mention that you’re from Sweden. You can’t imagine how many guys coming up to me lately at the streets, supermarket, parks etc recently and as soon as I mention that I’m from Sweden their eyes starts flashing like the Eiffel Tower does in the evening. I KNOW .. it is the Swedish girls and the more liberal view on sex i Sweden that makes these Frenchmen totally crazy about Swedish girls. But more about that in another blogpost. What I wanted to say is that one of the French in the company actually stayed in Stockholm a few months and he preferred Paris, where everything came down to it …. even if the French makes life so much more complicated here  it still has its charm :-)

I really had a nice time at the picnic and I was not home until 2 in the morning  ;-) I really love this French life of mine …

Comme une vraie Parisienne

May 14th, 2010 § 9

pauls_paris

grom_paris_2TRANSLATION:

Yesterday I took a short break from my studies and met Ferferi and Max in their laundry break. As you can see in the picture, I came home with a baguette from Pauls, comme une vraiment Parisienne  ;-)

I introduced Ferferi and Max to GROM. GROM is just minutes away from where I live and I me, myself, I was introduced to the gelato bar, by an Italian Chef I know here in Paris. He of all people should know where they have the best Italian gelato here in town, don’t you guys agree? To live almost next door to  GROM is great but a dangerous weapon to my thin wallet …..

This time I chose “Crema di Grom” (a creamy ice cream with “meliga Biscuits” and crushed dark chocolate from Colombia) and “Cassatta Siciliana” (ice cream made of ricotta cheese with bits of candied lemon, lime and orange). Again, a heavenly experience that took me to heaven….
