Having brioche façon pain perdu with caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream @ Schmuck

They’ve changed the menu at Schmuck in Paris ;-) My favourite main course has been excluded = no more skate wing  for me….instead I found something else that tempted me on the menu…Saint Jacques! So I had Saint Jacques with mashed potatoes (delicious!) and for dessert I had the usual, brioche façon pain perdu with caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream :-) Happy they didn’t take that one off from the menu ;-) As I’ve been telling you before, their brioche façon pain perdu is the best I’ve ever tasted in Paris and if you’re feeling for having one have it at Schmuck!

The wall with the marble and the console with the candles gives such a warm and magical feeling at the restaurant Schmuck. It’s nice to have dinner at Schmuck once in a while, it’s like stepping in to another world when the restaurant is decorated with things where almost half of it comes from flea markets.

When these photos were taken I had fried zucchini flowers as a starter and my friend had burrata, sundried tomatoes and black olive tapenade. As a maincourse I chose skate wing with grapefruit (my FAVOURITE) while my friend had a beef tartare with French fries and salad. I’ve always picked the same dessert ever since I started to have dinner at Schmuck and it has always been their delicious brioche façon pain perdu with caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream :-)

A second Schmuck  has opened up in St Germain in Paris (summer 2011) after a great success with the first one at 43 rue de Ponthieu (next to Champs-Elysée), on the other side of the river Seine.

When I first entered the restaurant I was amazed by the decoration made by Laura Gonzalez (who re-decorated Bus Palladium and the nightclub Le Régine). She is an interior designer, she manage her own architect company, Pravda Arkitect and at the age of 27 I must say her career is very impressing :-)

The walls in the restaurant are covered with different wallpapers, mirrors in different shapes and sizes are hanging on the walls next to old framed photos, antique chandeliers hanging from the ceiling, candles almost everywhere, baroque armchairs and my favourite part, the wall made by marble with a console covered with candles in different sizes. The decoration breathes very much Marie-Antoinette which is charming and puts spirit to the ambiance.

The mojito is a classic one in the bar and if you are lucky you might spot the hot actor Guillaume Canet at Schmuck or Gilles Lellouche who is one of the owners.

Status: In Paris! Tomorrow’s first stop will be Dubai and then the final destination: Singapore :-)

My hairdresser must be the best hairdresser in Paris and I’m so happy I found him :-) In August I went to him to change my last haircolor (black) into something lighter…I didn’t wanted to become blonde again, rather dark blonde…and he suggested dark strawberry blonde. You can see the result on these photos. It’s amazing how the hair have kept the color and glow for so long, these photos were taken on November 25th. I can see that I need to fix the roots but I’ll take care of that after my Asia-trip ;-)

My hairdressers name is Christophe and he really takes good care of you, he takes time to really understand what kind of color you want to have or what kind of result and he is honest and tells you what’s possible and what’s not. I’ve always been pleased when I’ve left his saloon and that’s why I recommend him.

On October 4th, my friend Thierry Lasry (sunglass designer) and Ludovic Messager (owner of Quintessence Playground) arranged a party during the fashion week in Paris at the nightclub L’ARC. Another one of my outfits during the latest fashion week in Paris (Oct 2011), it was my most photographed outfit during the fashion week. Photographers from L’Officiel, ELLE (Spain), ELLE (UK), GLAMOUR (France) and some Japanese magazines that I don’t remember the names of took photos on me during that day. I was wearing the following:

It was a nightmare running around with my  heavy bag during the fashion week in Paris….I only had my Canon G12 camera in it but that was enough to make it a total weight of 7 kg…..had pain in my back every night. Why are there not any good professinal cameras that are not that heavy?! And why do they always have to use thick leather for the leather bags?! The bags are going to be filled up and they’re not going to be used empty…mine is heavy even when it’s empty. See no other alternative that I need to pump up my arms for the next fashion week so that I can handle it ;-)

It was not easy running around with high-heels and carrying a super-duper heavy bag with my camera between the fashionshows during the fashionweek…. That’s why it was great that Vogue had created a space at Hôtel Crillon where you could go for a drink while relaxing. Me and my friend Vanessa went there to recharge our batteries before we set off again ;-)

DSQUARED cocktail store-opening

DSQUARED² celebrated their opening of their first international flagship store in Paris last Sunday by having a cocktail party in their store followed by an after-party at the Ritz Hotel. Me and my friend Vanessa went to the cocktail in the store and had a look on their latest collection while sipping champagne and other drinks. Unfortunately only the press-people were allowed to take photos but I managed to take a few before they caught me in action…so sorry, not many photos on their nice decoration in the store or their clothes. But it was a great evening! Lots of people…among them the owners of the brand Dean and Dan Caten, Anna Dello Russo, Bob Sinclair, Bryan Adams, Carine Roitfeld, Ciara, Natasha Poly, Renzo Rosso, James Goldstein, Julia Restoin Roitfeld and all the Italians! I never had the time to go to Italy this summer,that I had planned to, but instead I had my dose of Italy during the evening, people where speaking Italian everywhere and for a moment I felt like I was there :-)

Having desserts @ Mama Shelter

Mama knows how to make delicious desserts at Mama Shelter ;-) Last week when I was there with a friend I had a heavy dessert that consisted of chocolate ice cream, chocolate sauce and lots of whipped cream! And my friend had vanilla ice cream with hot fudge….yummie!
